WOMEN OF EMPOWEREMENT AT HAZELWOOD EAST (WOE)

Hazelwood East has formed an after school club for girls called Women of Empowerment  (WOE).  The objectives of the club are to promote personal growth, development and self-esteem through cultural, social, educational activities as well as community service.

An upcoming activity for WOE is the Technology Empowerment Day at the University of Missouri-St. Louis (UMSL).  This mini-conference will include topics such as: Cyber Bullying; Cyber Safety; Digital Storytelling Project; Having Fun with Wii.  WOE members will participate in a mentorship project with seventh and eighth- graders from Hazelwood Middle.

Roshelyn McCoy, a counselor at Hazelwood East said, “WOE will give a selected    group of freshmen young ladies the opportunity to be fortified and enhanced in the foundations of their high school career, thus allowing them to become role -model students for those to come.”  The young ladies and staff are looking forward to these activities and other upcoming events.
